My 25th Birthday

25 Lessons Upon My 25th Birthday

It’s hard to comprehend how quickly time passes. As another year comes near its end, another birthday dawns on me. It felt like yesterday I just turned 20 and here I am at 25. If you were to ask me back then how I envisioned my life at 25, I can confidently say my imagination was different than the reality of my life today. Sometimes the future we planned out for ourselves isn’t where we are meant to be. As I grew and further developed myself through education and new experiences,  I realized that my interests and aspirations changed. It never crossed my mind that one day I would have a platform to share with everyone the things that I am most passionate about, and now here I am creating content and connecting people together through a common interest. In a way, I am happy my imagination years ago is not the reality that I live today. The best things in life truly do happen unexpectedly.

As each birthday comes around, I like to reflect on the how much I have grown. Here are 25 lessons that I have learned throughout the years:

1 . Who you were at 18 does not define who you are at 25. – Maturity

2. There’s nothing in this world that can trouble you as much as your own thoughts. – Overthinking

3. If you tell the truth, it becomes a part of your past. If you lie, it becomes a part of your future. – Honesty

4. Learn to forgive yourself and to forgive others. – A Peaceful Mind

5. Some lessons cannot be taught, they must be learned. – Mistakes

6. You can never be overdressed or over educated. – Fashion

7. Don’t seek validation. It is okay to live a life others don’t understand. – Choosing an Unconventional Career Path

8. What consumes your mind controls your life. – Late Night Thoughts

9. Don’t judge a situation you have never been in. – Assumptions

10. Happiness is felt by making other people happy. – Giving

11. Cherish those you have in your life because you never know when they won’t be there anymore. – My Parents

12. Do not trust everything you read on the Internet. – Yahoo Answers

13. Never limit yourself to just one point of view. Learn to see from different perspectives. – My Ego

14. Surround yourself with people that reflect who you want to be. – Inspiration

15. Never forget who was there for you when no one else was. – True Friends

 16. There is no shame in being honest or vulnerable. It is the beauty of being human. – Bravery

17. Unconditional love means giving without expecting anything in return. – Family

18. It is not selfish to make yourself a priority. – Stress

19. When you choose to see the good in others, you end up finding the good in yourself. – Kindness

20. The best relationship is the one that makes you a better person, without changing you into someone other than yourself. – Boyfriend

22. Some things are worth spending extra money on. – Makeup

23. If you don’t take care of your body, your body won’t take care of you. – Health

Don’t judge a situation you’ve never been in. Becoming a parent will bring this one to the forefront!

I love this post! This quote especially sticks with me: “Who you were at 18 does not define who you are at 25.” I’m only 19 right now, so I have mixed feelings about this. I guess the takeaway for me is that everyone is constantly evolving, and just because I’m in college doesn’t mean this is the last opportunity I’ll have for personal growth.

Thank you for stopping by! Everyone can interpret it differently but in a sense I just see it as not punishing yourself for the things you did and your perspectives at a younger age because yes people are constantly growing, learning, and changing. It’s okay to make mistakes, so don’t work yourself up over the person you were in the past and just try to be a better person and improve yourself as each day goes by. I wish you the best of luck with your future :).
